KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Rickea Jackson had 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead No. 5 Tennessee to a 74-65 victory over UMass. Jackson, a transfer from Mississippi State, scored 18 points in the second half as the Lady Volunteers (1-1) won for the first time this season. Tamari Key had 13 points and nine rebounds. The UMass was led by Sam Breen’s 18 points and 12 rebounds. Nyah Mayo scored 15 points, Sydney Taylor 11 and Destiney Philoxy 10.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The five teams with the best records in the Southeastern Conference all rank in the top seven in the 14-team league in rushing. And not all of them are posting gaudy passing stats. That trend has revealed itself even as spread offenses have taken hold across the conference. First-year LSU coach Brian Kelly says pass-oriented spread offenses can produce a lot of points and wins. But Kelly says teams that win championships tend to play with physicality and exert their will by running well and stopping the run. Tennessee is the SEC’s top passing team. But the fifth-ranked Vols lost last week to a No. 1 Georgia squad that played strong defense and outrushed them 130 yards to 94.

Georgia’s top-ranked SEC defense will face another high-octane offense, which is led by the SEC’s top passer Will Rogers. Georgia’s Stetson Bennett is second, and is coming off a three-touchdown performance against the Volunteers. MSU is coming off a 39-33 overtime win over Auburn.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — LSU coach Brian Kelly knows his seventh-ranked Tigers have more at stake than just winning a rivalry game against Arkansas. A win over the Razorbacks would bring the Golden Boot trophy back to Baton Rouge after it spent a year in Fayetteville. It also would also place the Tigers one step closer to an SEC Championship Game berth. If both LSU and Alabama win this weekend, the Tigers will win the SEC West. The Razorbacks hope to claim bowl eligibility down the final stretch of the season and play spoiler for higher-ranked teams like LSU.
UNDATED (AP) — Lane Kiffin was impressed with how Alabama’s Nick Saban handled the rare regular-season losses. The 10th-ranked Crimson Tide only lost twice in Kiffin’s three seasons in Tuscaloosa, both to Mississippi. Alabama faces the 11th-ranked Rebels in Oxford, trying to rebound from an overtime loss to No. 7 LSU. It was the second last-play loss of the season, most likely knocking the Tide from the national championship hunt. Alabama has won the last six meetings with Ole Miss, which is led by freshman tailback Quinshon Judkins.

They’re both also 1-5 in Southeastern Conference games. It will be Auburn’s second game under interim coach Carnell Williams since the firing of Bryan Harsin. The Aggies are expected to start Conner Weigman, who had an impressive starting debut against Mississippi. Weigman missed the Florida game with a virus.
